Using Steadily

What makes a good project description?

Include what you're trying to accomplish, any deadline you have, and context about your situation. For example: "I need to plan a birthday party for my 5-year-old in 3 weeks. I want to have it at a park." More detail helps Steadily create more relevant steps.

How do I delete a plan?

Open the plan you want to delete and click the "Delete Plan" button at the bottom. You'll be asked to confirm before the plan is permanently removed.

Can I edit my plan after creating it?

You can mark steps as complete, skip steps, and use the "Revise plan" option to adjust your plan based on new information or changed circumstances. You can also add context about what's changed when revising.

What do the status indicators (green/yellow/red) mean?

Steadily calculates a "start-by date" for each task based on when it's due minus lead time, effort, and your buffer preference.

Green: All tasks are on track. Nothing is overdue or urgent.
Yellow: Some tasks need action this week. They're approaching or past their start-by date.
Red: You have overdue tasks. Some items have passed their start-by date and need immediate attention.

What are "start-by dates"?

A start-by date is when you should start working on a task (not when it's due). Steadily calculates this by working backwards: due date minus lead time (like booking windows), minus effort needed, minus your buffer preference.

For example: if a flight is due January 31 and needs 21 days lead time to get good prices, 1 day of effort, and 2 days buffer, your start-by date is January 7.

How do I change my plan's deadline?

Open your plan and click "Make Changes" at the bottom. You'll see a deadline editor where you can set or change the due date. All start-by dates and urgency indicators will recalculate automatically.

What are clarification questions?

When Steadily creates your plan, it may ask clarifying questions if important details are missing (like guest count or specific dates). These help sharpen your plan. You can answer them using "Make Changes" and add the details, and Steadily will update your plan accordingly.
